Inland Navigation - Audits and Inspections

Audits are held at the offices of shipping companies or charterers and inspections are carried out on board. An audit held at the office serves as an internal audit for management systems or Tanker Management Self Assessments (TMSA). The objective of an audit is to verify whether activities are executed according to prevailing procedures and instructions and to introduce improvements if necessary. The inspectors of Transafe are familiar with all relevant directives, among which EBIS and TMSA.

On-board inspections are carried out in compliance with a pre-specified inspection chart. The starting point of an inspection is to verify whether the technical and operational condition of a vessel is good enough to allow a safe passage, loading and unloading. During an inspection an alcohol and drug test might be carried out or additional training might be given to the ship's crew.
